Tracking community data for collaborative decision making

United Way of South Hampton Roads is committed to utilizing data to drive programming to respond to the changes happening in our community. One of those critical challenges is the social determinants of health (SDOH), the non-medical factors influencing outcomes. These are the conditions in which people are born, grow, work, and live in a broader set of forces and systems that shape the conditions of daily life. Today, more nonprofits face increasing pressure to demonstrate true impact in measurable ways. Using data to inform decision-making and evaluate performance is a best practice.

One of the tools we use is The Greater Hampton Roads Community Indicators Dashboard. It's not just a data tracking resource, it's a user-friendly platform designed to be easy for anyone to navigate and understand. It's a free resource that tracks meaningful, accurate, standardized data over time, and its mission is to promote health and quality of life in Hampton Roads through collaborative action and data-driven decision-making. With this Dashboard, you can measure the factors that most significantly impact our region's quality of life.

The Dashboard provides a clear picture of the region's performance in various critical areas and plays a crucial role in identifying communities with the greatest need in specific areas. This feature underscores the importance of our collective efforts in addressing these needs. The plan is to expand our data impact profile with additional options that will be implemented in the coming months.

We invite you to explore, compare, and take action.
