Women United held their 17th annual Fall Luncheon on Thursday, October 8 at 12 noon. While attendees could not physically be together, they brought the energy into the online chatroom as they cheered on speakers, networked and together pledged $415,000 for women and children in the 757.
Members who made their pledge to give in 2021 received voting privileges to help decide how $55,000 would be invested to help four of our nonprofit partners use creative solutions to address challenges they experience.
Thanks to those who cast their ballots during the event, the following grants were awarded to the below agencies:
- $20,000 to Communities in Schools
- $15,000 to The Up Center
- $10,000 to Jewish Family Services
- $10,000 to Children’s Health Investment Program (CHIP)
Attendees also enjoyed hearing from a surprise guest speaker. Desiree shared some incredible updates about the Aspire partnership from her unique perspective as a participant. Hear her story and what she had to say about her experience with her mentor, Meredith, beginning at 17:53 in the above video.
Finally, our wonderful emcee Joanna Brumsey, Chair of Women United, concluded the event with a bang leaving her office covered in confetti and the chatroom bursting with energy and virtual applause.
