Leading Through Generosity

The Tocqueville Society is named for French author Alexis de Tocqueville who applauded the American desire to take a personal role in the advancement of society by combining philanthropy and service.

Today, that same spirit of giving lives on in our Tocqueville Society members who collectively invest more than $3 million each year to build a brighter future for women, children, veterans and families in South Hampton Roads.

Tocqueville Society members make a minimum annual gift of $10,000 or participate in the step-up program, which allows community leaders to “step-up” to the requisite giving level over three years while enjoying the recognition and benefits of Tocqueville membership. In year one, the minimum gift is $6,000; in year two, at least $8,000; and by year three, maintaining a sustained annual gift of $10,000 or more.

Tocqueville giving is truly the foundation of our annual campaign. You are the driving force behind our impact, and we are grateful for your leadership and generosity.
