Hurricane Dorian Relief
While the potential effects of Hurricane Dorian are unclear and will be hard to determine until the storm passes, United Way will be here every step of the way. Every major weather event presents two challenges: immediate critical needs and long-term recovery and rebuilding. United Way is uniquely suited to address both.
United Way mobilizes volunteers and raises funds for our neighbors in need. We pride ourselves on the fact that money given to United Way of South Hampton Roads stays in our local community. This remains true during a natural disaster. However, sometimes the greatest need created by such a situation is not in our local community, and donors and volunteers want to help on a larger scale.
As a result, we offer two donation options. The first goes to local relief efforts, helping our neighbors most affected by the storm. The second goes to national relief efforts. As part of a vast network of United Way organizations, we ensure your funds go to those communities with the greatest need. And, because they are distributed through the local United Way, you can be confident in how the funds are used.
Thanks to your ongoing support, United Way and our certified agencies are always ready to respond to any disaster. Please consider an extra gift to help United Way provide funding to those organizations helping your neighbors impacted by Hurricane Dorian.
