Day of Caring 2019

Day of Caring 2019

United Way of South Hampton Road’s annual Day of Caring took place last Friday. Despite it being Friday the 13th, luck was on our side as the rain held off and volunteers rallied together with bright and cheerful spirits. The 50 companies that participated this year brought over 1,200 volunteers who collectively completed 108 projects at 51 local nonprofits.

The volunteers that participated were involved in everything from painting and landscaping to packing food for families in need. At the Salvation Army Hampton Roads Area Command, Sentara helped revitalize a play structure that was covered with weeds allowing the children from the nearby school to play on it safely! Dominion Enterprises and TowneBank worked together to clean and organize the H.E.R. Shelter, while Bank of America created crafts for kids.

Day of Caring is an opportunity for us to rally together to improve the quality of life in the South Hampton Roads area and beyond. When our businesses and nonprofits come together to LIVE UNITED, our community can do amazing things. Thank you to the businesses, volunteers and nonprofit organizations who were involved in this year’s Day of Caring.
