Ashley HomeStores Donates 60 Mattresses to Essential Workers

Since the onset of the pandemic, our first responders and essential workers have worked tirelessly to keep our community safe, healthy and operational. Responding in kind to their effort, we partnered with local Ashley HomeStores, Grand Furniture, Tempur-Pedic© and Entercom radio to give them a much-needed rest with the Good Night’s Sleep Mattress Giveaway.

Community members were invited to nominate a frontline worker they think deserves some rest and recognition for going above and beyond. Nominations were received between November 23 and December 20, 2020. Just in time for the New Year, winners will be announced on-air and live at the Ashley HomeStore in Virginia Beach.

“Our first responders and essential workers have kept our community going this year,” said Michele Anderson, president and CEO of United Way of South Hampton Roads. “We are delighted to be able to work with partners like Ashley HomeStores, Grand Furniture and Tempur-Pedic to give back to these frontline workers who have given us so much.”

“We reached out to our community to have them nominate the people they know who’ve taken care of us during these times,” said Matt Stein, co-owner and vice president of sales of Grand Brands featuring Ashley HomeStores SEVA, Grand Furniture and GFO. “Our first responders and essential workers really deserve a good night’s sleep. That’s why we’ve highlighted our relationship with Tempur-Pedic to give away 80 of their certified reconditioned queen mattresses during the holidays and why this community partnership is so special,” Stein continued.

“Over the last decade, partnering with nonprofits and our retailers like Ashley HomeStores SEVA, our company has donated more than 200,000 mattresses to charity as part of our philanthropic initiatives,” said Eric Habel, Senior Territory Sales Manager. “We have a robust mattress donation program and for 2020, the focus was on COVID-19-related needs, so we are delighted to see those on the front lines in Hampton Roads be recognized and we thank them for comforting us this past year.”

We are thankful for partnerships like this that allow us to recognize our frontline heroes, and even more grateful for the dedication and sacrifice of so many across our community this year. We see you and we appreciate you!
